A word from the elder Mrs. Hash ...

The following is from an email sent out tonight by my mother-in-law:

Friday evening, May 13-09

Without the Lord it would be "worst-case scenario." But with the Lord, it is an advance reservation for the joys of heaven. Today the oncologist told us that Tom is in 4th stage cancer (in the blood stream) and without treatment has three to six months. It is definitely the rare Hurthle cell carcinoma that is spreading rapidly. And unless there is something very recent to the contrary, he has undergone all the treatment there is for it.

We go to M.D.Anderson Cancer Center on March 30th to see if they have anything new to offer. We (all of our family) have agreed that his quality of life is now the most important factor for as long as the Lord chooses to let him stay with us. Right now he is feeling and looking great, and even sweeter than ever. I will adore and care for him "‘til death do us part."

Of course, we are all reeling, but the peace of the Lord is still very much ours. Again, "I surrender all ... to Thee, my blessed Savior" is playing in my heart and mind, mixing with a few tears. I am sure more are to come.

Your outpouring of prayer, love, notes, and money gifts has overwhelmed us. We feel so unworthy, but yet so deeply grateful. The Lord is abundantly meeting our financial needs through you. Thank you, thank you!

Lori/Terry/Casey have been daily walking through this valley with us, upholding us in an incredible way. Dan plans to fly in from Poland to be with us in Houston, and Dave/Deb/Joe will be coming to Dallas next week (driving two semis) for a big job (sound, lights, video). So we will see them soon also.

We have a week-long reservation at a hotel near the hospital in Houston that has a shuttle every hour to the medical center. We will drive down (250 miles) on Sunday (29th), as our first appointment is at 7:30 a.m. on Monday. We have no idea how long we will be there.

"He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase.
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus ...
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again."

That is our story today, and will always be ...

Seeking to finish well in TX ...
Dotty Hash (for Tom too)

  1. Hi Deb,

    Thank you for for sharing.
As I read the blog, the following thoughts came immediately came to mind-- for you and every one of your family members. My inspired thoughts are from the Song of Solomon:
In the eyes of your Loved One:
    All of you are his
EASTER Lilies walking among the thorns (this trial). For him, You are the extravagant and overcoming ALL powerful fragrance of LIFE Himself--Messiah, the Prince of life.
He sees that you ARE as the beautiful Rose of Sharon who pours forth Love upon him, making his days sweeter than wine...Your eyes are as doves eyes that are steadfastly focused and your hearts confidently fixed trusting the God of ALL Hope. Your loved one is at the banqueting table with God and his family. See! he is wearing His BANNER [VICTORY]of LOVE All can see his how much God loves him and he loves God!God is faithful.
    In Messiah,
    Shirah
